Arsenal have prepared a massive bid for their main transfer target this season.

The Gunners are looking for a striker this season. Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is on the top of the target list for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal are not the only club targeting Gyokeres this summer. There are other European clubs including Premier League clubs have the Swedish superstar on their radar.

However, it looks like Arsenal have left behind their competition and placed a bid for the striker.

According to a Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Arsenal representatives are in Lisbon as they look to seal the deal with Sporting.

Arsenal are ready to trigger the release clause of Viktor Gyokeres which is around €70m.

The Gunners are finishing as the runner-ups of the Premier League for three seasons in a row.

This season, not having a prolific target man has proved to be the downfall for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta is looking to solve the striker problem as soon as possible. That is why Arsenal are moving quickly for Viktor Gyokeres.

Manchester United are also looking to sign the player. However, the Swedish international wants to play in the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils cannot offer that.

So, Arsenal were leading the race from the beginning. Now, it looks like they are on the verge of sealing the deal with Sporting.

Viktor Gyokeres has scored 54 times for Sporting this season in 52 appearances.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for a striker who can at least score 30-35 goals in a season in the Premier League.

If Gyokeres can do that, then the Gunners will be closer to winning the Premier League title more than ever.

If Arsenal can agree on the deal with Sporting and land the striker at the Emirates, it will be a statement signing for sure.
