Arsenal plan blockbuster move for Barcelona star in January

Arsenal have been presented with a potential opportunity.

Arsenal remain firmly involved in the Premier League title race after making a strong start to their championship defence.

Mikel Arteta’s side collected 12 points from their opening five matches, although Brighton ended their early momentum with a 3-0 defeat.

The Gunners also reshaped their squad considerably during the summer, with Andrea Berta overseeing several major additions and departures.

Bruno Guimaraes arrived for £75 million, while Arsenal also strengthened their defence by signing Ezri Konsa and retaining Piero Hincapie permanently.

However, their attempts to secure another major attacking addition proved unsuccessful despite pursuing several high-profile options.

Christos Tzolis ultimately became their primary attacking arrival, joining from Club Brugge for £34 million.

Arsenal could now receive another opportunity to strengthen their attack when the transfer market reopens in January.

According to TEAMtalk, intermediaries have contacted Arsenal about the potential availability of Barcelona star Dani Olmo.

No formal approach has taken place, although some Premier League clubs contacted by intermediaries have shown tentative interest.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also received information about a possible January deal.

Barcelona continue to value the 28-year-old highly and regard him as an important member of their squad.

However, the Spanish champions could consider a sale under certain circumstances as they assess their wider financial and sporting plans.

Barcelona believe Fermin Lopez can assume a more prominent role, giving the club greater flexibility when considering Olmo’s future.

A potential sale could also generate funds as Barcelona look to strengthen other areas of their squad.

Arsenal could face competition from outside England if they decide to explore a deal.

Bayern Munich have shown interest in Olmo as they assess their attacking midfield options, while Saudi clubs are also monitoring developments.

However, Olmo’s valuation could make a January transfer difficult to structure for any interested club.

Arsenal have therefore been presented with a potential opportunity rather than opening negotiations, with Barcelona yet to actively push Olmo towards an exit.
