Arsenal are not sitting still. After another season of nearly reaching the top, they are getting serious.
Mikel Arteta knows his squad needs more, power, quality, most importantly, goals.
Last season was promising. Arsenal looked strong for months. But when it mattered most, they came up short again.
Manchester City and Liverpool were just one step ahead in consecutive seasons. And the Gunners ran out of steam, especially up front.
Injuries made things worse. Gabriel Jesus could not stay fit. Others filled in, but no one really convinced.
At times, Arteta had to use wingers or midfielders as strikers. It was not enough to challenge properly.
That is why Arsenal are now spending big. A €60 million deal for midfielder Martin Zubimendi is almost done.
Benjamin Sesko, the young Slovenian striker, is also close to joining in an €80 million move.
That already sounds like a big summer. But Arteta is not done yet.
According to The Daily Mail, the Gunners want one more attacking player.
Talks are expected to begin soon for Mohamed Kudus. The Ghanaian star target is fast, technical, and can play in many positions across the front line.
The West Ham United forward had a decent season, scoring five goals and providing three assists, but he wants a bigger stage now.
He joined the Hammers last summer but could be on the move again. His release clause is around £85 million, and West Ham will not accept less.
It is a huge sum, but Arsenal seem willing to try. Chelsea and Newcastle are also watching this situation with Mohamed Kudus.
If the deal fails, Arsenal may turn to Chelsea’s Noni Madueke. But with Kudus as the top target, all eyes now turn to what could be one of the summer’s biggest deals.
