Bayer Leverkusen have wasted no time looking for reinforcements after losing their creative heartbeat, Florian Wirtz.
Last season, they failed to retain the Bundesliga crown. But without Wirtz, they know they need that challenging Bayern Munich will be very tough.
Leverkusen also lost their manager Xabi Alonso, who has joined Real Madrid. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag took his place at the BayArena.
Over in Italy, Juventus are also on the same path. The Turin giants parted ways with Thiago Motta in March and appointed Igor Tudor as his replacement.
The Old Lady finished 4th in the Serie A last season, and they were 12 points behind the Scudetto holders Napoli. Juventus cannot afford to have another season like that.
They have already signed Francisco Conceicao on a permanent deal. But Igor Tudor wants to add more attacking options up front. So far, both clubs seem to agree on one target.
According to Ben Jacobs, Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus are both interested in signing Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling.
The 30-year-old is no longer part of Chelsea’s plans under Enzo Maresca. Despite having two years left on his deal, the Blues are ready to move him on.
Sterling was loaned out to Arsenal last season but only managed 28 appearances with six goal contributions.
Once a standout at Manchester City, Sterling’s form has dipped in recent years. But his pace, dribbling, and Premier League experience still hold value.
Chelsea are open to letting him leave this summer and are working to present him with options. They would be willing to part ways for a fee of around £20 million.
It remains to be seen whether Leverkusen or Juventus are prepared to match that price.
But with both clubs needing a wide player, the race for Sterling’s signature could heat up quickly in the coming weeks.
