Arsenal could look to strengthen their attack during the summer transfer window despite winning the Premier League last season.
Mikel Arteta already has a strong squad, but the Gunners remain eager to add more quality in the final third. The left wing is one position Arsenal could address before the new campaign.
Neither Gabriel Martinelli nor Leandro Trossard managed to make the role their own, and one of them could leave the club this summer.
Although Morgan Rogers is not a natural left winger, the Aston Villa star is capable of operating in wide areas.
Arsenal view him as a versatile attacking option who could add further quality to their squad.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update on Arsenal’s pursuit of the England international.
Speaking on his World Cup show, Romano revealed that talks between Arsenal and Rogers are already progressing well.
“My understanding is that the deal is already advanced on the player’s side, so between Arsenal and Morgan Rogers, the feeling is very positive.
“It’s going to be on the conversations they will have with Aston Villa, so talks will follow club to club. It’s not easy, because the player signed a new deal at Aston Villa a few months ago, and Aston Villa are going to be in the Champions League.
“So it’s not easy to let a player like Morgan Rogers go, but I’m sure Arsenal will go very strong, and the player is quite keen on the move.”
The update will come as a major boost for Arsenal. The Gunners appear to have made significant progress with the player.
But negotiations with Aston Villa could ultimately determine whether a transfer becomes possible.
For now, Arsenal have established a positive position in the race. However, they must now convince Aston Villa to part ways with one of their most important attacking players.
