This season, whenever Manchester United came up against a Champions League team in the transfer race, the Red devils always came up short.
The Manchester United pull is not working anymore. That is why Viktor Gyokeres, Hugo Ekitike, and so many others choose United’s rivals this summer.
However, Ruben Amorim is desperate to have a striker this season. Rasmus Hojlund failed to impress him last season.
In the preseason game against West Ham United (which the Red Devils won by 2-1), Hojlund looked sharp. But consistency is something that has lacked from Hojlund from the beginning.
That is why Ruben Amorim doesn’t want to take a chance and he wants to have proven goal scorer upfront.
After failing to sign Ekitike, Manchester United have set their sights on Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
However, Newcastle United were also looking to sign Ekitike. But now, the Magpies are pushing the most to sign the Slovenian international.
Now, with the recent record of Manchester United and players choosing Champions League clubs, they are not ready to take a chance.
They want to have an alternative ready in case Benjamin Sesko decides to join their rivals. And, it looks like Manchester United have identified a replacement they can pursue.
Yes, according to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are eyeing up a move for Aleksandar Mitrovic in case they fail to land Benjamin Sesko.
The Serbian international has been a fantastic signing for Al-Hilal. In 51 appearances for the club, Mitrovic has scored 47 times and assisted 8 times.
Manchester United want an experienced striker and Aleksandar Mitrovic fits that profile.
However, United are not the only club looking to sign the Serbian. Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank admires Mitrovic a lot.
So, the Spurs are also eyeing a move for the 30-year-old. Thus, it will be interesting to see which of the two clubs make the first move to bring back Aleksandar Mitrovic to Europe.
