Manchester United continue to strengthen their squad after an impressive return to the Champions League.
Michael Carrick guided the club to a third-place Premier League finish after taking charge midway through last season.
His side have already welcomed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Kit Margetson during a busy summer rebuild. However, United are still looking to reinforce their attack.
With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Marcus Rashford, the club are exploring options to add another winger before the transfer window closes.
According to Nicolo Schira, Manchester United have now made an enquiry for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese international is no longer considered central to Milan’s plans and is ready to leave the Italian club this summer.
United have requested information as they assess whether a deal is possible. Leao endured a mixed campaign last season.
The 27-year-old scored nine Serie A goals and registered three assists in 29 league appearances.
Despite an inconsistent domestic season, he remained an important player for Portugal during the 2026 World Cup, contributing a goal and an assist before their Round of 16 exit.
AC Milan are also open to his departure. The Italian club are reportedly ready to sanction a sale to create financial flexibility after previously valuing the winger at around €100M.
More recent reports suggest a fee between €50M and €60M could now be enough to complete a transfer. Manchester United are not expected to have a clear run at the player.
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring Leao, while the winger has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.
So, Michael Carrick remains keen to add another proven attacker as preparations continue for the new campaign.
