Bruno Fernandes enjoyed another outstanding campaign for Manchester United during the 2025-26 season.
The Portuguese midfielder won both the FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards.
Fernandes also registered 21 assists in the Premier League, setting a new single-season record in the competition.
His performances helped Michael Carrick’s side secure a top-three finish and return to the Champions League.
However, Fernandes has once again faced significant transfer speculation during the summer window.
Galatasaray recently explored a move for the Manchester United captain and made an enquiry about his availability.
United rejected that approach and have continued discussions with Fernandes over extending his stay at Old Trafford.
According to TEAMtalk, Galatasaray have now ended their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes and moved to sign Aleksey Batrakov instead.
The Turkish champions have agreed a deal worth more than €30 million (£26m) with Lokomotiv Moscow for Batrakov.
The 21-year-old will now travel to Istanbul to complete the move, effectively ending Galatasaray‘s interest in Fernandes.
That development gives Manchester United a significant boost as they continue negotiations over a new contract with their captain.
Fernandes wants to remain at Old Trafford and has made his preference clear during discussions with the club.
United also want to extend his stay, although the length of the proposed contract remains an important issue.
Fernandes wants a four-year agreement which could keep him at Manchester United until he reaches 35.
The club must now decide whether they are prepared to meet that demand during the ongoing negotiations.
Fernandes already has a contract until 2028, while United can extend that agreement by another year.
He also rejected an approach from Al-Hilal earlier this summer despite the significant financial package available.
With Galatasaray now moving for Batrakov, Fernandes can focus more firmly on securing his long-term Manchester United future.
