Manchester United are preparing for another important season after finishing third in the Premier League during the 2025-26 campaign.
Michael Carrick transformed United’s fortunes after replacing Ruben Amorim in January and eventually secured the permanent manager’s job.
The Red Devils have since taken a more measured approach in the summer transfer market.
United strengthened midfield by signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Karl Darlow also arrived on a free transfer to add goalkeeping depth.
However, Carrick still wants more additions before the window closes, with another striker among the positions United are considering.
Benjamin Sesko scored 12 goals during his debut season, but United want more competition in the No.9 position.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are now interested in signing Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, who could cost between €45 million and €50 million.
The 21-year-old scored 23 goals last season and has attracted attention from several major clubs.
Chelsea and Tottenham are also monitoring Tresoldi, while Barcelona have started accelerating their interest in the Germany Under-21 international.
Barcelona are looking for alternatives to Julian Alvarez because Atletico Madrid do not want to sell him to a major rival.
Ferran Torres could also leave Barcelona, which may give the Catalan club additional funds to pursue Tresoldi.
Manchester United face their own complication before they can advance a deal.
The Red Devils may need to move Joshua Zirkzee out before signing another striker this summer.
Roma have already tested Club Brugge’s resolve with a bid below Tresoldi’s valuation, but the Belgian club rejected their offer.
Therefore, United could face serious competition if they decide to make a formal move.
Carrick has already made his position clear by insisting United still need more additions despite their summer business.
For now, Manchester United and Barcelona remain firmly in the race as Tresoldi’s future becomes a major late-window talking point.
