Manchester United are pushing to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season. Michael Carrick wants more quality in the middle of the park as the club prepare for a return to Champions League football.
The Red Devils have already explored several options in the market. One player who continues to attract strong interest is West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
However, United now face serious competition for his signature. According to FootMercato, Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with West Ham over a deal for Fernandes.
The French champions are also discussing a possible move for winger Crysencio Summerville. PSG are exploring a double transfer that could take both players to Paris this summer.
West Ham suffered relegation from the Premier League last season. As a result, several key players have attracted interest from clubs across Europe. Fernandes is among the most sought-after names.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign despite West Ham’s struggles. Manchester United have already made an approach for the midfielder. West Ham value him at around £80M.
Now, Real Madrid also remain interested, as Jose Mourinho views Fernandes as a player capable of improving his midfield options at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, PSG have now entered the race. The report claims West Ham want €130M for Fernandes and Summerville combined.
Paris Saint-Germain have not submitted a formal offer at this stage. Despite that, discussions are already underway.
Fernandes only joined West Ham last year. The London club signed him from Southampton in a deal worth £38M plus £4M in add-ons.
