Tottenham Hotspur have already started rebuilding their squad after a difficult season that almost ended in relegation.
Spurs avoided the drop on the final day and immediately backed Roberto De Zerbi in the transfer market.
The north London club already secured the arrivals of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi after both defenders became free agents.
However, Tottenham still plan several more additions before the new season begins. De Zerbi wants improvements across the squad as he looks to steer Spurs back up the Premier League table.
Defence remains one area of focus. Tottenham continue working on a deal for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, a player De Zerbi knows well from his time at the Amex Stadium.
The club also remain in talks over a move for Manchester City winger Savinho. Despite those pursuits, Tottenham have not taken their attention away from midfield.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to play a major role in the midfielder market this summer.
Romano recently confirmed that Joao Palhinha has prioritised a permanent move to Tottenham following his loan spell from Bayern Munich.
The Portugal international impressed during the second half of last season and became an important figure under De Zerbi.
The Tottenham boss openly expressed his desire to keep Palhinha after the campaign ended.
That development already handed Spurs encouragement in their efforts to secure a permanent agreement. Romano has now suggested even more midfield activity could follow.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist stressed that Tottenham should not be forgotten when discussing major midfield deals this summer.
He also predicted significant movement across the Premier League market involving midfielders. That update comes as another positive sign for Spurs supporters.
So, Romano’s latest update suggests midfield could become one of the busiest departments at Tottenham Hotspur before the window closes.
