Manchester United have held fresh talks to sign Carlos Baleba next season. The Red Devils were interested in signing the Cameroonian last summer.
However, Brighton and Hove Albion rejected the move. And, United were unable to sign a midfielder. Also, that has hurt them a lot this season, initially.
In January, there were talks about United signing a new midfielder. They were linked with the likes of Ruben Neves and Conor Gallagher.
But both players picked other clubs ahead of Manchester United. So, this summer, United will go back on their pursuit of a defensive midfielder, especially after Casemiro’s decision to leave.
They are desperate to sign a holding midfielder and have multiple names on their list of potential targets. With Manuel Ugarte potentially leaving too, they might need two midfielders.
Carlos Baleba has been one of the top names on United’s list of midfield targets. And now, it seems they have reignited their interest in the 22-year-old.
According to CentreDevils, Manchester United have opened talks with Carlos Baleba for a potential move next summer.
The Red Devils are once again showing interest in the midfielder. Also, the Cameroonian was under scrutiny because of the drop-off in his performance this season.
Still, United rate Baleba highly and they are ready to proceed with the move next summer. Also, Brighton are reportedly ready to lower their asking price for the midfielder.
Carlos Baleba’s contract with Brighton is valid till 2028, and the club has an option to extend the deal for a further year.
Apart from Baleba, Manchester United are already looking at the likes of Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Joao Gomes, and Amadou Onana.
Manchester United have also officially opened talks with a Belgian winger for a summer move. So, the Red Devils will be highly active next summer if they secure Champions League football.
