Manchester United identify Lewis Hall alternatives

United now have several alternatives available as Carrick continues reshaping his squad.

Manchester United have already strengthened Michael Carrick’s squad significantly ahead of their new Premier League campaign.

United agreed a £70 million package to sign Carlos Baleba after adding Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans earlier this summer.

However, the Red Devils are not finished in the transfer market as they look to strengthen another important position.

United want another left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw, who played all 38 Premier League matches last season.

Carrick has mostly used Patrick Dorgu on the wing since returning to Old Trafford in January.

United finished third with 71 points last season after Carrick transformed their fortunes during the second half of the campaign.

The English manager recorded 12 victories from 17 matches after replacing Ruben Amorim midway through the season.

That impressive turnaround secured Champions League football, increasing the need for additional depth within Carrick’s squad this season.

Lewis Hall has remained United’s preferred left-back option, with director of football Jason Wilcox reportedly a major admirer.

However, Newcastle United are reluctant to sell after losing Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and captain Bruno Guimaraes.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United have identified Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and RB Leipzig’s David Raum as alternatives to Lewis Hall.

Newcastle have made their position clear regarding Hall and have already started discussions over a new contract.

Therefore, United are considering other possibilities as they prepare to focus on strengthening the left side of their defence.

Raum has a £34 million release clause at RB Leipzig, while Balde has now emerged as another option from Spain.

Fulham defender Antonee Robinson could also become an option if United ultimately fail to secure Hall this summer.

United previously showed interest in Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, who can operate at left-back and in midfield.

However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that the 19-year-old will remain in north London beyond the summer.

With Newcastle unwilling to sell Hall, United now have several alternatives available as Carrick continues reshaping his squad.
