Manchester United will be linked with multiple midfielders around Europe next summer. There is no doubt that the Red Devils will be looking to sign a new midfielder.
With Casemiro leaving, it has become very important for the Red Devils to sign a new midfielder. Also, with Manuel Ugarte potentially leaving the club, they have to sign a holding midfielder.
Furthermore, if Bruno Fernandes leaves, then they might need to look for an additional midfielder to replace the Portuguese. Now, Manchester United have already made a decision on his future.
Now, it is up to Fernandes to accept that decision. That is why next summer, there will be plenty of movements happening around Old Trafford.
So, Manchester United have already created a list of their potential midfield targets. They have already included names like Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton there.
However, they know that they will face competition to sign these players as they will be among the most sought-after names in the transfer market next summer.
So, they already have alternative targets in their minds. And for one of those alternative targets, the Red Devils will now face competition from the current Serie A holders, Napoli.
According to Nicolo Schira, Manchester United will have to battle Napoli for the signature of Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Now, the Wolves are in a precarious situation this season. They were almost certain to get relegated this season. However, the recent results have brought hope of survival back to Molineux.
So, if Wolves get relegated, they might have to sell the Portuguese for a lower price. His contract is still valid till 2030. So, if they survive, then they will be in a position to charge big money for Gomes,
