The ghosts from the past are once again surrounding the Emirates Stadium, as the injury list expands for Arsenal.

The Premier League leaders already suffered a blow following their clash against Manchester United at home, with Mikel Merino set to miss months of action.

That is why Arsenal tried to sign a replacement for the Spaniard. However, Newcastle United thwarted their quest to sign Sandro Tonali.

However, Mikel Arteta reportedly admires the Italian international. So, the Gunners might reignite their interest next summer.

Apart from Merino, Arteta suffered a massive blow before the Leeds United game. Bukayo Saka had a muscle niggle before the start of that game.

Later, scans showed that the winger will be out for a few weeks, with a tentative return date being the North London derby. Thus, Saka’s injury will be a huge blow.

Noni Madueke has stepped up decently so far to provide cover for Saka’s absence. Also, Martin Odegaard also ‘felt a little niggle’ and that was why he was absent against Chelsea.

Now, it seems another player has joined the injury list of the Gunners. On Thursday, Arsenal had an open session on Thursday to prepare for the game against Sunderland.

And, according to Now Arsenal, the most notable absentee from the squad was Jurrien Timber. Arsenal have not confirmed his injury yet.

But his absence from training will surely raise questions about his availability for the Sunderland game this weekend.

In the last few seasons, the Gunners lost the title race simply because of injuries to their key players. Also, they didn’t have the bench strength to replace those players without dropping quality.

However, last summer, Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta decided to take matters into their hands.

They signed top players last summer. And now the Gunners have perhaps the best bench in the Premier League.
