Chelsea striker set to leave club

Chelsea have already started reshaping their squad ahead of the new season.

Chelsea endured a disappointing 2025-26 campaign and now face a crucial summer rebuild.

The Blues finished 10th in the Premier League and missed out on European qualification after a difficult season.

Although the campaign started with promise, Chelsea struggled to maintain momentum.

Managerial changes and squad issues ultimately prevented the club from competing consistently across all competitions.

The Blues suffered Champions League disappointment against Paris Saint-Germain and also fell short in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

As a result, the club has now turned to Xabi Alonso to lead a new era at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already started reshaping their squad ahead of the new season.

The club recently agreed a deal that will see Marc Cucurella sign for Real Madrid, while speculation continues to surround the future of Enzo Fernandez.

Changes are also taking place within Chelsea’s academy setup. Several young players will leave the club following the expiry of their contracts as the Blues continue to assess their long-term plans.

Now, another departure appears increasingly likely. According to The Standard, West Bromwich Albion are advancing in talks to sign Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

Chelsea want between £1 million and £1.5 million for the striker and also hope to include a sizeable sell-on clause.

The club believe Morgan has the potential to thrive in the Championship and want to protect their future interests.

Morgan joined Chelsea from Southampton in February 2023. The Blues paid £3 million to secure the England youth international when he was 17 years old.

Although West Brom will pay less than Chelsea originally spent, the Premier League club could still make a profit because of amortisation costs linked to the deal.

The move follows an impressive loan spell at Peterborough United. Morgan scored 14 goals in all competitions during the 2025-26 season.

He established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players. Despite his progress, he never made a senior appearance for Chelsea.

However, he still produced impressive numbers at academy level, scoring 21 goals in 46 appearances for the club’s Under-21 side.
