Manchester United ended their home campaign with a dramatic 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The result strengthened the positive mood around Old Trafford after Michael Carrick guided the club back into the Champions League for next season.

United also received another major boost during the match. The club are preparing for a huge summer rebuild ahead of their return to Europe’s biggest competition.

Midfield remains a priority, while Manchester United also want reinforcements in attack, defence, and wide areas. Several high earners could leave Old Trafford to fund that rebuild.

Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to depart this summer. However, another outgoing deal became permanent while United faced Nottingham Forest.

Rasmus Hojlund spent this season on loan at Napoli after struggling for consistency at Manchester United.

The striker joined the Italian side with a clause in his contract which stated Napoli would pay £38 million if they secured Champions League qualification.

According to the agreement, that condition has now officially been triggered. Napoli secured their Champions League place with a 3-0 victory against Pisa earlier on Sunday.

Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay opened the scoring after 20 minutes before Amir Rrahmani doubled the lead.

Then Hojlund sealed the victory deep into stoppage time with Napoli’s third goal of the afternoon. The match finished while United were still playing against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

As a result, Manchester United officially banked £38 million for their summer transfer budget during their own Premier League fixture.

Hojlund scored 15 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season, including 11 in Serie A.

The Danish striker originally joined Manchester United from Atalanta for an initial £64 million fee. He later scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the club before moving to Italy.
