Who would have said a year ago that Scott McTominay would be the most valuable player in the Serie A, helping Napoli capture the Scudetto?
McTominay was slagged off by Manchester United every week. And this shows a problem with the Red Devils.
Manchester United do have talented players. But they don’t have the infrastructure and personnel to nurture those talents and make them shine on the biggest stages.
Scott McTominay is a prime example of what United could have done with him. But now, they are creating the path to their own demise.
Napoli have been interested in signing multiple Manchester United players this summer after experiencing how good their academy players are after signing Scott McTominay.
At the start of the summer transfer window, they were serious considering signing Alejandro Garnacho, who could have been the ideal winger to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Although he is not an academy graduate from Manchester United, Antonio Conte is also looking to sign Rasmus Hojlund as a replacement for the injured Romelu Lukaku.
Now, they have set their sights on another Manchester United player who is getting tracked by the Spanish giants, Real Madrid.
According to Jack Gaughan, Napoli are eyeing a move for the Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of the player.
In recent days, there are rumours about Mainoo wanting to leave United due to the lack of game time.
So, if Kobbie Mainoo leaves and becomes successful at another club, the Red Devils will once again be in the same position as McTominay has left them.
