Real Madrid are preparing for the new season under Jose Mourinho, with several important decisions still surrounding their midfield.
Aurelien Tchouameni remains a major part of those discussions after another regular campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old made 33 La Liga appearances last season and featured another 13 times in the Champions League.
Afterwards, Tchouameni represented France at the 2026 World Cup despite dealing with a thigh injury during the tournament.
However, France eventually saw their campaign end against Spain in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, uncertainty has continued around Tchouameni’s future despite his importance to Real Madrid.
Reports previously claimed that the France international had agreed a new contract with the Spanish giants.
However, the club have yet to formally announce an extension, while his current deal runs until 2028.
Manchester United recently made an enquiry about Tchouameni as they search for a specialist defensive midfielder following Casemiro’s departure.
Now, Real Madrid have settled their stance on the midfielder following that approach.
According to The Sun, Real Madrid are willing to sell Tchouameni to Manchester United if they receive the right offer.
The development marks a change from Mourinho’s original plans, as the Real Madrid manager had intended to keep Tchouameni for the new season.
However, the Spanish giants are now prepared to cash in if their demands are met.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have been linked with Manchester City midfielder Rodri after his impressive World Cup campaign with Spain.
Manchester United have already strengthened their midfield by signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. However, neither player is an outright No.6.
Therefore, Real Madrid’s decision could open the door for United to pursue another major midfield addition if they decide to follow their earlier enquiry with a suitable offer.
