Tottenham Hotspur learn Cody Gakpo and Savinho transfer decision

Tottenham Hotspur have learned Liverpool and Manchester City’s position on Cody Gakpo and Savinho.

Tottenham Hotspur survived a disastrous 2025-26 campaign after securing Premier League safety on the final day.

Roberto De Zerbi arrived late in the season and successfully guided Spurs away from relegation before overseeing a major rebuild during the summer.

The North London club have already invested heavily in the transfer market. Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke arrived in big-money deals, while Andrew Robertson joined on a free transfer.

Spurs have also enjoyed an unbeaten preseason and will complete their preparations against Getafe and Hoffenheim before the new campaign begins.

Despite those additions, Tottenham still want more attacking reinforcements. Roberto De Zerbi wants another winger before the transfer window closes as Spurs continue exploring several options.

According to Sky Sports and The Athletic (via TEAMtalk), Tottenham Hotspur have learned Liverpool and Manchester City’s position on Cody Gakpo and Savinho.

Savinho remains Tottenham’s preferred option for the right wing. The Brazil international wants to leave Manchester City and is open to joining Spurs.

The two clubs have continued discussing a deal worth around £60 million. However, Manchester City will only consider selling Savinho after signing a replacement.

Tottenham have also turned their attention to Gakpo after Bournemouth winger Eli Junior Kroupi suffered a fractured metatarsal.

TEAMtalk reports that discussions with the Dutchman’s representatives have been positive. Liverpool will not allow Gakpo to leave until they sign a replacement.

Bradley Barcola remains a potential target for the Reds if they decide to sell the Netherlands international.

Liverpool do not want to sell Gakpo this summer. However, the club could reconsider if they receive an acceptable offer. Liverpool reportedly value the winger at £72 million.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain confident of signing Savinho. However, both transfers depend on Liverpool and Manchester City securing replacement wingers before approving any departures.
