Mateus Fernandes continues attracting major interest ahead of the summer transfer window. However, the West Ham United midfielder already knows what he wants from his next move.
Several top clubs across Europe are now monitoring the Portuguese midfielder following his impressive performances despite West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.
Fernandes has quickly become one of the most discussed midfielders in the market.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United all continue tracking the situation closely.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also entered discussions surrounding the player.
Despite that interest, Mateus Fernandes reportedly wants more than simply the biggest contract available.
According to CaughtOffside, the midfielder wants to join a project where he can secure an important starting role while continuing his development inside a young and ambitious squad.
Manchester United remain one of the clubs most strongly linked with Fernandes. The Red Devils have added the midfielder to their shortlist and also started talks for a potential move.
West Ham currently value Fernandes at around £80M, although Manchester United reportedly consider that figure too high.
Still, Old Trafford could offer the midfielder one of the clearest pathways towards regular football.
Michael Carrick wants several midfield additions this summer following major changes inside the squad.
Therefore, Fernandes could immediately compete for an important role in United’s midfield setup. However, competition elsewhere may prove tougher.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all possess strong midfield depth already despite their interest in the player.
Meanwhile, reports also claim Jose Mourinho has asked Real Madrid to consider Fernandes following his return to the Bernabeu.
Among all the clubs currently interested, Manchester United may still provide the strongest balance between regular football, squad importance and Champions League competition.
