Manchester United continue to reshape their squad under Michael Carrick following a successful 2025-26 campaign.
The Red Devils secured a return to the Champions League and have already strengthened the squad with the signing of Ederson. However, Carrick’s work is far from complete.
Manchester United will make further additions before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, the World Cup has provided another opportunity for players to showcase their talent on the biggest stage.
One player enhanced his reputation during the opening round of fixtures against England.
Croatia pushed Thomas Tuchel’s side throughout their Group L clash before eventually suffering a 4-2 defeat. Despite the result, one Croatian midfielder produced a performance that caught the eye.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Manchester United are among the clubs showing interest in Como midfielder Martin Baturina following his impressive rise over the last year.
The 23-year-old announced himself on the World Cup stage with a stunning goal against England.
Baturina found the net during Croatia’s opening group match and continued the excellent form he displayed throughout the club season.
His performances for Como helped Cesc Fabregas’ side secure European qualification in Serie A. During the campaign, Baturina scored eight goals and provided four assists.
Interest in the Croatian playmaker has been growing for some time. Sky Italia reports that a €50 million offer from a Premier League club has already been rejected this summer.
While speculation suggests Aston Villa may have submitted the proposal, the identity of the club remains unconfirmed.
Manchester United now appear to be monitoring the situation closely. A number of Italian clubs are also credited with an interest in the Croatia international.
For now, United have not submitted a formal offer. However, Baturina’s performances for both club and country continue to attract attention.
