Manchester United stopped Kobbie Mainoo from leaving on loan to Napoli this summer.
Mainoo wanted more game time as he wanted to increase his chances of making the England World Cup squad.
So far, the England international has yet to start a Premier League game for Manchester United. He made 5 appearances and all of them as a substitute.
In total, the 20-year-old has played only 113 minutes in the Premier League. And his only start came in the lost cause for United as Grimsby Town eliminated them from the Carabao Cup.
There is no doubt that Kobbie Mainoo is not happy with his situation at Manchester United.
In January, Manchester United will have offers for Kobbie Mainoo to leave on loan. Napoli wanted to sign Mainoo on loan this summer, towards the end of the window.
Also, there are reports that Real Madrid might show interest in the England star when the January window opens.
Meanwhile, Napoli are also tipped to return to sign Mainoo on loan. No matter what, the Red Devils know that the academy graduate will leave unless his playing time increases at Old Trafford.
Now, the reason why Manchester United didn’t allow Kobbie Mainoo to leave was that they didn’t have the time to find a replacement for him.
However, according to Fichajes, the Red Devils have finally found a replacement which might unlock the Kobbie Mainoo to Napoli or Real Madrid move.
Manchester United are looking to sign Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP. The 26-year-old was a key player under Ruben Amorim during his stint in Portugal.
The Red Devils will be ready to pay around €60 million for the midfielder. So, if the Danish international arrives at Old Trafford, it can open the exit door for Kobbie Mainoo.
